What’s in the Class 7 Hindi NCERT Book (2026-27 Edition)
The book opens with माँ, कह एक कहानी (a story-poem) and तीन बुद्धिमान; it continues through फूल और काँटा, पानी रे पानी and नहीं होना बीमार, and closes with Giridhar Kavirai’s couplets, a monsoon poem (वर्षा-बहार), an interview with Kathak maestro Birju Maharaj, and Meera’s devotional verses (मीरा के पद).
Study Tip
The interview with Birju Maharaj is a real conversational piece, not a story or essay — practise answering questions about the interviewer’s questions and the interviewee’s responses specifically, since this format is tested differently from the poetry and prose chapters.

Why This Book Matters for Boards
Class 7 Hindi (Malhar) builds the reading and writing foundation that Class 8, 9 and 10’s board-exam-year Hindi papers depend on. CBSE schools commonly base internal exams closely on this book, and a solid grasp now makes the more analysis-heavy literature content in later years considerably easier.
