What this chapter teaches.
Children learn to recognise common Indian coins (xe2x82xb91, xe2x82xb92, xe2x82xb95, xe2x82xb910) and notes (xe2x82xb910, xe2x82xb920, xe2x82xb950, xe2x82xb9100), and practise adding combinations of coins/notes to find a total amount, and making a given amount using different combinations of coins and notes.

Activity 1 — Recognise the Money.
Children identify and name different coins and notes, and say the value of each. This can be practised at home with real (or play) coins and notes.

Activity 2 — Add It Up.
Given a small collection of coins/notes (for example, one xe2x82xb95 coin and two xe2x82xb92 coins), children add the values to find the total amount (xe2x82xb99 in this example).

Activity 3 — Make the Amount.
Children are given a target amount (like xe2x82xb915) and asked to show it using coins/notes in more than one way (for example, one xe2x82xb910 note and one xe2x82xb95 coin, or three xe2x82xb95 coins).

Activity 4 — Fair Shopping Problems.
Simple word problems set at a fair — buying a balloon for xe2x82xb95 and a toy for xe2x82xb910, how much is spent in total, and similar everyday money problems.
